This video addresses the problems of guarding a table saw when making cuts such as the rabbet and dado. Since the blade does not separate the piece, a splitter mounted guard cannot be used. Dr. Cliffe addresses the various ways of protecting the operator with shop made barriers and featherboards. You'll see both splitter mounted and overarm guards used for these cuts. References are made to OSHA standards where appropriate.
