The Foods & Nutrition Edition of Sous Chef 7 is a beginner course on the basics of foods, with an emphasis on personal nutrition and wellness. This program is the stepping stone to further foods education and production classes. With this version of the Sous Chef, you will have access to an array of multimedia material including over 100 videos and 400 pages of professional academic content. Foods & Nutrition is ideal for Middle School classes, or as a valuable introductory resource to compliment High School Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS) and various levels of Food Production programs. Content in the Foods & Nutrition products includes learning the importance of sanitation while handling foods, an introduction to various types of foods, the importance of a balanced diet, an examination of the food pyramid, and much more. The Sous Chef will provide your students with a basic knowledge of food and the building blocks for leading a happy and healthy lifestyle. Foods & Nutrition (FN) integrates over 7 hours of video content into the lessons, with a focus on fundamental skills and practices such as washing hands, cleaning utensils and cutting boards, making sandwiches, and frying eggs. Foods & Nutrition also includes access to additional tools and features of the software including customizable lesson plans, quizzes, and a page creator, to name just a few. Teachers can now add their own materials and edit content. The Sous Chef can be used as a supplement to or a replacement for the textbook you are currently using. It contains textual information and photos presented in a standard “book” format. These pages can be printed for classroom handouts, viewed on monitors, or used with a projector as slides. In addition to the textual pages, the program contains technique videos which give step-by-step instructions. They show basic and advanced kitchen techniques for everything from butchering a chicken to techniques for final plate presentation. The Sous Chef combines text, photos, charts, diagrams, and video to be your best teaching assistant. With the searchable database, you can find the specific information or techniques you need instantly at your fingertips. Additional information: The Sous Chef program is NOT student interactive. Teachers can now edit content and import their own materials, including PowerPoint presentations. The Sous Chef program is PC-compatible (It will not run on a MAC) and requires Windows XP or higher. The additional workstations contain exactly the same content as the single-station program. You can print unlimited quantities of text and photos/illustration/diagrams for student use. Pages on your computer screen can be projected for classroom viewing. Each workstation will require approximately 26 gigabits of hard drive. The Student Version includes all the written and photographic content of the program except the videos and teacher materials. Each page of the student version is printable. The student version is not loaded onto the computer’s hard drive. It runs from the original CD-ROM. This pricing is for installation on one computer. Site licensing is available.
