Little Rob is the perfect choice for the solo paddler who wants to be able to paddle on a moment’s notice. This boat is 12' to 14’ long, lightweight and capable of maneuvering in small places. Of the three boats in the strip canoe series (Bay Hawk, Companion, and Little Rob), this is the simplest to build.
The first few stages of building the Little Rob are virtually the same as the other canoes. However, after the boat is stripped and a layer of fiberglass is laid both inside and out, you are close to finishing up the trim work and getting out to paddle. The trim work on Little Rob is less sophisticated, and therefore less time consuming, than both Bay Hawk and Companion.
If this is your first boat, then this is a great choice; and if you purchase the “Boat Shop in a Box,” then you can't go wrong.
With the “Boat Shop in a Box,” you buy a complete package to build your canoe. You will be ready to rip, strip, and row in a matter of hours after receiving the kit.
The patterns are ready to be cut and with spray glue, tacked to 1/2" MDF panels. Then, simply use your jig saw to cut the patterns out of the wood. It is that easy. No lofting necessary.
