Introduce your shop students to GTA (Gas Tungsten Arc) welding. Safety and attire is discussed. Then, you are shown how to set up the GTA welder, assess current and amperage and adjust gas flow. Seven welds in the flat and vertical positions are shown. Procedures and weld demonstrations include maintaining a puddle, stringer beads, butt weld, T-weld, outside corner and multi-pass fillet. Each weld is accompanied by expert narration and is followed by a discussion.
